Pico Thingies Lab is Alexandros and Christina’s after-work and weekend project, where “just one small change” occasionally claims another weekend.
We’re Alexandros, a university researcher who actually holds a PhD in physics, and Christina, a historian with a master’s in evolutionary anthropology, so the multidisciplinary part is true.
The research background is real, and we bring that same curiosity and care to small things we can use in everyday life.
Most ideas start with something that bothers us, a friend or someone we know, followed by the reasonably dangerous thought, “Maybe I could make something for that.”
Once we’ve put the time into making something useful, we’d like to share it with other people who might find it useful too.
One thing measures the room, another shows useful information, another logs the car; apparently our everyday problems refuse to specialize.
We want people to enjoy what we make, find it helpful and get a little happiness from having it around.
We make things with care, a little personality and humour, and we’d love to work with people who like that approach.
We’d like this to grow into worthwhile collaborations and some extra income alongside our day jobs, through work we enjoy doing.
Ultimately, we’d love a small house with a little garden full of flowers and rabbits; that’s the sustainable growth we have in mind.
